Ladysmith is located on the 49th parallel and built on a hillside that overlooks the glistening waters of Ladysmith Harbour. Ladysmith is one of the oldest settlements on Vancouver Island.
Ladysmith is surrounded by beautiful mountains with lakes and streams. If you are looking for a convenient departure point for most outdoor activities, Ladysmith is a great choice. You can enjoy a variety of boutiques and shops with plaques describing their history. If you are out for a casual stroll, there are several turn-of-the-century buildings located along First Avenue. At Transfer Beach, you can go for a swim in the warm saltwater, picnic on the beach, rent a kayak and enjoy the spectacular harbour views. We got our wedding pictures taken at Transfer Beach. There's a great "Kids Park" there too!
Ladysmithsonians are famous for their "Christmas Light up". The town goes all out with a beautiful display down the main street of Ladysmith. Every time we drive past there our kids always ask us to drive down the main street to check out the light show!
